The event entitled “Neurobiological basis of alcoholism: from molecules to behavior”) is a satellite that will take place before the regular meeting of the Sociedad de Farmacología de Chile (SOFARCHI)”, and will be held in the city of Pto. Varas, Chile, on November 20th, 21st and 22nd, 2017.

I. REGISTRATION DEADLINE

The deadline for registration, abstract submission and fellowship application is September 20th, 2017.

The registration fees are:

After September 10th

(actual payment will be at the arrival to the meeting, save by registering before September 1st). For scientists that are planning to participate also on the SOFARCHI meeting, we are planning to offer substantial rebate.

*Please note that it is requested that you fill out and send the WEB based registration form by September 1st. This is very important for the organization of the workshop. Payment in dollars or Chilean pesos will be asked AT THE REGISTRATION DESK AFTER ARRIVAL TO THE WORKSHOP.

  •   The registration values cover the coffee breaks and materials.

  •   For scientists that also want to register for the Annual SOFARCHI meeting, they will get a discount fee.

Everybody has to pay their registration even if they are applying to a fellowship.

II. FELLOWSHIPS FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS

There will be some fellowships for students who are presenting a poster as first authors. The fellowship will be given in US dollars to the awarded students during the workshop and are considered as partial support to cover the costs of the trip to Puerto Varas:

US$ 150 for Chilean students.
US$ 300 for applicants from Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay.
US$ 400 for applicants from other South or Central American countries.

Dr. Harold Kalant Awards

Please note that students and young investigators presenting posters during the meeting can apply for the Dr. Harold Kalant Awards. For this, a had hoc committee will select the best two posters presentations which will receive the sum of $600.000 and $400.000 Chilean pesos together with a diploma.

The deadline for receiving applications for fellowships is September 1st, 2013.

To apply for a fellowship you must send the following documents (all within a single pdf file):

  • -  A short letter of intention, describing the focus of the research being conducted by the applicant and how participation in the workshop will contribute to the development of your research and/or training.

  • -  A complete fellowship application form.

  • -  A short letter of support from your advisor.

  • -  A copy of the applicant’s CV

    You must send the application to RPAUTASSI@GMAIL.COM, no later than September 1st, 2013.

    Although a number of fellowships are available, it is strongly advised that interested students and researchers apply to other sources of support such as national or international scientific societies.

PLEASE USE THE SECTION AT THE END OF THE REGISTRATION FORM STATING “Are you submitting a poster por presentation at the Meeting? If so, please upload the poster using the following box

Abstract must be written in English, in Arial font size 12. Abstracts must follow the following style:
Title (in upper letters), followed by author(s) last name and initials of first name(s) Example: Pérez, A.J.; Valenzuela, M. The presenting author must be the first author and his/her name should be in bold characters. Then the affiliation of authors and immediately after please indicate the email of the presenting author.

The body of the abstract should be in a separate paragraph and no longer than 250 words.

The abstract should state the objective of the study, briefly describe the methods used, summarize the results obtained and state the conclusions. It is not satisfactory to say, "The results will be discussed." Abstracts should emphasize the significance of results and general principles rather than ordinary methods and procedures. When experimental animals are used, the species should be stated. When relevant, the sex of experimental animals and humans should be noted. Abstracts can include an acknowledgement sentence to indicate the financial support. Please use standard abbreviations. When using other abbreviations, please use the entire name in the first mention followed by its abbreviation in parentheses. Avoid figures, tables and references in the text of the abstract.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSTERS

  •   Poster maximal size should be 120 cm high and 90 cm wide.

  •   Title - Prepare a banner for the top of the poster indicating the abstract title,

    author(s) and affiliation(s).

  •   Place an introduction at the upper left and a conclusion at the lower right, both in

    large type.

    Instructions for presenting your poster:

  •   Poster must be on the corresponding board at the designated time and removed after poster session.

  •   Presenting authors are required at the board during the assigned time.
